Inland Water Safety : Advisory Group

AINA logo

The Safety Issues Group, which is part of the Association of Inland Navigation Authorities (AINA) act as the Inland Water Safety Advisory Group to the National Forum. AINA was formed in 1996 with strong encouragement from Government to bring together navigation authorities and provide a single voice on waterway management issues. The broad purpose of AINA is to facilitate the management, maintenance and development of the inland waterways for navigation as an economic, environmental, recreational and social resource.

Within AINA, the Safety Issues Group (SiG) was established for the benefit of navigation authorities' staff and the wide range of waterways users. It provides the mechanism by which the Association can reach collective positions on safety issues both for reference to external bodies and for its own purpose in producing guidance for Members and analysing data.

More information on the Safety Issues Group can be found on the AINA website. The current work of the Safety Issues Group can be followed visiting the Current Issue page.
