Swimming Pool Safety Image: SwimmerThe National Swimming Forum acts as the Swimming Pool Safety Advisory Group to the National Water Safety Forum. The National Swimming Forum is made up of organisations that are concerned primarily with the delivery of swimming activities in swimming pools and those that contribute towards the provision of swimming activities for the community at large.

The National Swimming Forum provides an opportunity for members to discuss issues of common interest, share information and influence policy within their individual bodies. The Forum aims to:

  • Ensure that everyone has an opportunity to learn to swim
  • Ensure that everyone has an opportunity to achieve their personal goals within the sport of swimming and associated activities with clear pathways leading to those goals
  • That a structure exists within the sport of swimming to achieve success on the world stage
  • That swimming and associated activities shall take place in conditions of safety and in a health-promoting environment
  • That swimming and associated activities should take place in circumstances where the rights of individuals and groups are protected and there is no discrimination on the grounds of race, religion or creed and where procedures and practice ensure the protection of vulnerable users especially young children
  • To ensure that there is a network of public facilities for swimming activities to deliver all aspects of swimming with affordable access.

The National Swimming Forum meets three times per year at the swimming pool at Loughborough Swimming Pool and currently it is chaired by Ralph Riley, Chief Executive of ISRM.
